My Story

I've loved art since I was a kid. My creativity always shines through my art projects throughout my student years, and was recognized by my teachers and classmates. I appreciate the soul and beauty of art and design. I have experiences in both the design & marketing field. I've studied graphic design in San Jose State University, which was one of the few universities that offered graphic design as a major in the south bay area at the time. There, I absorbed different design concepts and computer graphics skills. I also learned to complete different design projects by discovering the importance of color, typography, photography and more. I always have my own design style that emerged through my focus on design and marketing. I was working as a sales representative and graphic designer while studying for my Graphic Design degree at San Jose State University, so I decided to gain educational knowledge in Marketing to have a well-rounded knowledge in Marketing and Design. I've completed and received my Integrated Marketing Certification from San Francisco State University, and received a Web Development certification from UC Davis. I am currently learning and implementing UX/UI techniques at my current job to expand my skills.

I've successfully re-designed all graphics and website layout for Bio-Rad Laboratories' new internal Global Intranet as the sole Graphic Designer. I helped created a platform that is great for team collaboration with ease of maintenance for all organizations throughout the company. Graphic design on all marketing communications for new Global Intranet preparation and launch. Projects include site templates, logos, icons, banners, animations, videos, script writing, training materials, user guides, postcards, flyers, promotional items and more.

Many of my marketing graphics and packaging design work for Ettore Products Company can be found in many retail hardware stores. Such as Lowe’s, Orchard Supply Hardware, Do it Best, HomeDepot.com and many more. I also design Ettore’s trade-show graphics. You can see my graphics at the annual International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago’s McCormick convention center. Ettore is a manufacturer of quality cleaning tools, window cleaning tools, extension poles and accessories. They are well-known for their invention back in 1936, the window squeegee! They produce high quality industrial performance window cleaning cleaning products that are used all over the world.

My main freelance projects were for Signature Forged Wheels and PYSpeed.com. Signature Forged Wheels is an automotive website that specializes in premium quality wheels. PYSpeed is an e-commerce company that offers auto performance tuning and accessories auto parts for most car makes and models. I've updated all necessary e-commerce data and images. I also helped design all marketing materials, the main website and even the wheel center-caps for SignatureWheel. Marketing materials includes: web banner ads, newsletters, coupon ads, blogs, photo library, product studio photography, photo editing and more.

I enjoy listening to music. I know how to play piano, the guzheng, the harmonica, the flute and more! I am currently self-learning the ukulele and the Venova, a casual wind instrument that sounds just like a saxophone. I believe I get most of my design inspirations through music. I also enjoy home cooking, painting and arts & crafts. My passion in art started my career path working on freelance projects. I've created this personal design website - KAWA DESIGNS to showcase some of my design and personal resume. My clients describe my work as creative, clean and informational. I always listen to clients' needs, and deliver projects on time. This makes my work efficient and effective for most companies who work in a fast pace.

I truly believe in this quote by Confucius  –  “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
